Extension Privacy Notice

This notice covers the Samalink browser extension connected to samalink.cn. Self-hosted deployments also depend on the workspace operator's configuration.

Local storage and account access

The extension stores login tokens, language and conversation preferences, private-chat and sync choices, your WhatsApp number, unsent drafts, and translation cache in browser-local extension storage. Passwords are not saved as plaintext local settings. Drafts expire after seven days with a maximum of 50 conversations. The translation cache is limited to 1,000 entries and removes entries unused for seven days. Signing out clears login state, drafts and translation cache. Uninstalling removes extension-local data.

Translation and AI

Translation and drafting send the selected text and necessary context to Samalink: up to six preceding messages for translation and 20 recent conversation lines for drafts. When eligible, draft prefetch while the panel is open may process a new customer message. The hosted service uses Alibaba Cloud model services, which handle received text under their policies. Extension translation and reply-drafting requests do not save text-body snapshots; usage, request status and necessary security and fault logs remain. Public-company lookup inputs and results may be saved as AI call records. Notes explicitly saved by the user become workspace records. AI responses are text, not remotely executed code.

Workspace sync and private conversations

Sync requires both workspace enablement and your affirmative consent after disclosure. Messages readable in opened business conversations, identifiers, names or numbers, direction and timestamps are then sent to your workspace. Authorized administrators and members can access them according to their permissions. Turning off sync stops further conversation uploads. Sync status and diagnostics without message bodies may be processed for service operation. Private conversations are not automatically synced; marking a conversation private does not delete earlier uploads. Translation or other AI processing explicitly requested for private text still requires sending that text to the service. The extension does not read arbitrary other websites or collect browsing history for advertising.

Business information, email and payments

Customer details, notes, shipment references, quotes and saved responses may be stored when you choose the corresponding action. Connecting your work mailbox sends its address and necessary credentials to the service; credentials are encrypted. Authorized email sync stores messages in the workspace. Writing to your own Drafts folder requires separate permission; you send the email yourself. Payments are handled on the website and by Alipay. Samalink stores order amounts, status and account ownership for fulfillment and accounting; the extension does not read bank-card numbers. Personal AI balances and orders are separate from workspace balances and other members' order access.

Use, retention and choices

Data supports customer communication features, authentication, billing, business record retention, security and fault resolution. Samalink does not use it for selling data, advertising or advertising profiles. Necessary recipients include model services, the mailbox service you connect and Alipay for their respective functions. Synced messages, emails and customer records remain workspace business records until handled through an authorized deletion process. Closing, signing out or uninstalling the extension does not automatically delete uploaded records or backups. Administrators can export supported records. Access, correction and deletion requests require identity and, where relevant, workspace authorization checks. The extension does not automatically send WhatsApp messages or emails, collect precise location, or embed third-party advertising trackers.
